How To Stake Atto
This tutorial walks through how to stake Atto from the wallet.
Staking lets you delegate your balance to a voter while keeping your funds liquid. If your account meets the current rules, it may receive variable rewards while remaining free to spend.
What Is Staking?
In Atto's wallet, staking means assigning your account's voting weight to a voter. ORV voting confirms transactions; eligible accounts may separately receive variable rewards under the current distribution rules.
Atto's staking keeps your funds fully liquid—you can spend them anytime. Eligible rewards use a 30-day effective-balance window, so recent balances affect the calculation without locking your coins.
Reward figures
The calculation uses two figures:
- Base programme APY: 200%
- GSI input: 0.1 from the Growth Stability Index
Effective programme APY: 20% (base programme APY × GSI), before the selected voter's delegator share and any cap-related reduction. An eligible account's rate may therefore be lower.
These programme figures are not a promised user return. Eligibility, rates, timing, voter sharing, and cap effects follow the current rules, and ATTO's market value may fall.

How to Start Staking
Getting started with staking takes just a few minutes:
Step 1: Ensure You Have Enough Atto
Under current rules, you need at least $10 USD worth of Atto in your wallet to be eligible for staking rewards.
Step 2: Open the Wallet and Navigate to Staking
Log into your Atto wallet and look for the staking or delegation section.
Step 3: Choose a Voter
Browse the list of available voters and select one to delegate your balance to. Consider these factors when choosing:
- Share Percentage: How much of the rewards the voter shares with delegators
- Total Delegation: Voters with lower delegation may offer better reward rates due to the 180M Atto cap
- Reliability: Check when the voter last voted to ensure they're active
You can also browse active voters in our voter explorer.
Step 4: Delegate Your Balance
Select your chosen voter and confirm the delegation. Your balance remains fully accessible—you're not locking anything.
Step 5: Receive Eligible Rewards
That's it! Under current rules, eligible rewards are normally calculated and distributed once per day. Just make sure to:
- Stay active: Make at least one transaction every 30 days to remain eligible
- Log in regularly: Open your wallet to receive any pending transactions
Understanding Your Rewards
Effective Balance
Eligible rewards are based on your effective balance, which is:
- The average of your daily balances over the past 30 days
- Capped at your current balance
This system rewards consistent holders and prevents gaming by briefly inflating balances.
Voter Cap
Under current rules, each voter has a cap of 180 million Atto in total delegated balance. If a voter exceeds this cap, rewards are proportionally reduced for its delegators, so total delegation can affect the variable reward calculation.
Want to Run Your Own Voter?
If you're technically inclined, you can run your own voter node and request registration for voter rewards. Operating a node is distinct from reward eligibility; see how to host a staking voter for the setup and registration steps.

Staking combines liquid delegation with a separate distribution route. If your account is eligible, it may receive variable rewards while you keep control of your funds.
When you're ready, choose an active voter and delegate from the wallet.
